For those of you who restore your own razors, and have also purchased my CD on how to do the work, you have seen me mention this jig. The idea for it was sent to me by Kerry Jones, and I made a slight modification. I added the aluminum strip at the base to dissipate some of the heat and to provide a resting place for the blade that will last a little longer than just the wood. I have been asked to make a few, so I did. It is 5 inches long and 1 3/8 inches wide. The base can be attached directly to a workbench using #6 or #8 wood screws. If you cannot do that, you can attach it to another longer piece of wood or shelving and clamp it temporarily to your kitchen table. That orta make the little woman happy... There are 4 1/4 inch x 1/4 inch rare-earth magnets epoxied into place to hold the blade snugly against the aluminum strip while you do your work. You can work on a blade up to 1 1/8 inches wide. Shipping in the U.S. is free. All y'all outsiders gotta come back to this page and also click the "Shipping Outside the United States" button. The charge is $3, American money... |
