It’s not just the boys on the forums that have the ability to make up their own terminology for razor related topics. I have created one myself and diligently assigned nomenclature for one of the types of razors that I produce.

 

   I can’t, in good conscience, call these razors a true custom because they are not.  And yet there has been some customization used to produce the straight razors on these pages. Basically, I have combined new with the old and I decided to call them Hybrids.

 

  Simply put, I will take an existing blade that I have harvested from another source whether it was new-old-stock or vintage, done some modification/improvement to it, and then added my own set of custom scales to dress it up a smidgen.  

 

  Snagging one of these hybrids is definitely a way to pick up an excellent razor at a fraction of the cost of one of my true custom pieces. Since I try really hard to cherry pick my blades for these projects, it is entirely possible to have a shaving instrument that shaves every bit as good as any custom razor out there.  Now all you have to do is check in often enough to snag one when they are in.

 

Shipping: All razors are shipped separately which translates to a separate charge for each razor. This is due to my dismal record with the post office and not because I am greedy. If the razor is less than $200, the shipping charge will be $8.00. If the razor is over $200, the shipping charge will be $15.00. This covers insurance and signature arrival confirmation. Unfortunately, shipping to any other country will have to be $28.00 for any razor unless you want to assume the responsibility for a safe arrival. I’ll guarantee against damage in this case, but not for loss or customs snafu’s. Contact me for clarification. Additionally, please don’t ask me to lie about the razor’s value on the shipping declaration. It’s not a disposition claiming higher moral values or anything... I just don’t want to take the chance of getting caught at it.
